Microbiology
The L1 microbiology platform, which is approved for the manipulation of class 1 GMOs, is divided into two dedicated manipulation zones:
Zone 1 is dedicated to the manipulation of bacteria and is equipped with a microbiological safety cabinet (MSC), a static incubator, and two orbital incubators. Techniques commonly used include vector cloning, bacterial transformation, and plasmid DNA extraction.
Zone 2 is dedicated to the manipulation of yeasts and is equipped with a microbiological safety cabinet (MSC), two static incubators, and one orbital incubator. This setup allows for the study of yeast growth on various liquid or solid media, and the screening of molecular libraries.
The room is also equipped with a UV/visible spectrophotometer for standard photometry (absorption, transmission, and concentration) as well as quantitative and kinetic analysis. An oxygraph (Hansatech system) is available for measuring mitochondrial respiration in different cell types.
